Bruce C. Fernandez, CFA, Lead Portfolio Manager

Bruce Fernandez is the lead portfolio manager of the Scout Bond Fund. Mr. Fernandez serves as the chairman of the Fixed Income Committee and is a member of the Asset Allocation and Bank Interest Rate committees.

Mr. Fernandez has more than 25 years of investment management experience, including 19 years focused on fixed income investments. Prior to joining Scout in January 2008, he was Chief Investment Officer for AG Edwards Trust Company. Prior to AG Edwards, he was a portfolio manager for General American Life Insurance Company.

Mr. Fernandez earned both his bachelor’s degree and graduate degree from Washington University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the CFA Institute and the St. Louis CFA Society.

Michael J. Heimlich, CFA, Co-Portfolio Manager
Vice President

Michael Heimlich is the co-portfolio manager for the Scout Bond Fund. He is responsible for providing qualitative and quantitative analysis for fixed income portfolios.

Mr. Heimlich has more than nine years of investment experience.  Prior to joining Scout, he was instrumental in developing fixed income strategies for A.G. Edwards’ institutional financial consultants and their clients.  In addition, Mr. Heimlich worked with the firm’s Investment Strategy Committee and was also a Portfolio Manager with A.G. Edwards Trust Company.

Mr. Heimlich earned his bachelor’s degree from Purdue University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the CFA Institute and the St. Louis CFA Society.
