James L. Moffett, CFA, Lead Portfolio Manager
Chief International Strategist, Scout Investment Advisors, Inc.
James Moffett is the chief international equity strategist for Scout Investment Advisors and serves as lead portfolio manager for the Scout International Fund and the Scout International Discovery Fund. Mr. Moffett developed the International Strategy and has managed both Funds since inception.
Mr. Moffett has more than 40 years of investment management experience. Prior to joining Scout, he was a portfolio manager with Commercial National Bank and worked in similar capacities for Boatmen’s Bank. His professional background also includes private investment counseling.
During his distinguished career, Moffett has received numerous accolades for his investment performance, earning national recognition from leading ratings organizations and financial publications.
Moffett earned his bachelor's degree from Harvard University and an MBA from Stanford. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the CFA Institute and the Kansas City CFA Society.
On three occassions, Mr. Moffett and his team have been nominated for Morningstar's International Manager of the Year Award.
Michael D. Stack, CFA, Co-Portfolio Manager
Michael Stack is the co-portfolio manager of the Scout International Discovery Fund. Mr. Stack has served in this role since the Fund’s inception in 2007.
Mr. Stack has more than 12 years of investment management experience. Prior to joining Scout, he managed the European Equities Fund at Overseas Asset Management (OAM), an off-shore investment firm based in Grand Cayman. Michael’s experience includes assisting in the management of portfolios of European stocks for U.S. Trust Company of New York in New York and London. Before U.S. Trust, Michael worked as a research analyst for a domestic brokerage house in Slovakia. Michael worked in the fixed income operations of Lehman Brothers upon completion of undergraduate studies.
Mr. Stack earned his bachelor’s degree from University College Dublin and his MBA in Finance and International Business from Columbia Business School in New York. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the CFA Institute and the Kansas City CFA Society.
