Fortune – December 14, 2011
Jim Moffett, lead portfolio manager of the Scout International Fund, was a featured expert in Fortune’s annual roundtable for its Investor’s Guide. He provided insights for investing in today’s market.

We're underweighted in Europe -- in European financials in particular. But we're a little more optimistic. We think that you need to separate financial markets from economies. At some point the Europeans will finally put in some form of monetary easing; the Germans will finally admit that if they don't, they're going to sink with the rest of them. China looks to be easing. And in many ways the easing drives financial markets as much as the underlying economics.

The Street – December 14, 2011
Pat Dunkerley, lead portfolio manager of the Scout Mid Cap Fund, was a featured guest on The Street, providing rationale for investing in Macy’s, CBS, AutoZone and Herbalife.

"I think the acrimonious political environment in the U.S. is causing an arms race. Candidates are spending more money on these political ads. That's good for networks like CBS. So there are a lot of drivers for this stock," says Dunkerley.

Barron’s – December 10, 2011
Gary Anderson, co-portfolio manager of the Scout International Fund, was featured in a recent article on Swiss engineering company ABB.

The U.S. and Europe urgently need to modernize aging infrastructure to accommodate more renewable-energy sources and meet anticipated demand for electric vehicles. "When you are in that business, you call ABB, Siemens [SI] or General Electric [GE]," says Gary Anderson, a portfolio manager at Scout International Fund in Kansas City, Mo., which has owned ABB shares since 2005. "Those guys are at the top of the list."

CNBC-TV – December 6, 2011
Pat Dunkerley, lead portfolio manager of the Scout Mid Cap Fund, was a featured guest on CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” addressing international investing given current market conditions and where his team is putting their money.

We’re buying good companies that are preliminarily leveraged in the United States and have good fundamentals, so companies like AutoZone. AutoZone has got several thousand stores in the U.S., and are ninety-five percent exposed to the United States, with very good sales growth. They’re buying back their stock rapidly; I think about twelve percent of their shares were retired in the last year. Average age of U.S. vehicles is over ten years, a record, so the fundamentals there are powerful as U.S. citizens try to repair the cars themselves, so they’re selling the parts for that. That stock is doing very good and a very shareholder-friendly management team there.

The Street – December 5, 2011
Jim Moffett, lead portfolio manager of the Scout International Fund, was featured in a recent article regarding the best British stocks for 2012.

"The British economy and its policy-makers are wrestling with the same issues as the rest of Europe, but they have many of the region's best companies that are not only undervalued, but under-the-radar, so we think that's an attractive place to invest," Moffet said.

Fox Business News – November 30, 2011
Gary Anderson, co-portfolio manager of the Scout International Fund, was a featured guest on Fox Business News’ “Countdown to the Closing Bell” discussing international investing and current market conditions.

I think the biggest worry is that the Germans will be intransigent, that they won’t concede to allowing the European Central Bank to be more accommodative toward the sovereign debt issue. I think that is the big issue out there. Will the sovereign debt issue be backstopped or bailed out in some fashion so that the markets can settle down and look back on earnings and profits.

CNBC-TV – November 30, 2011
Jim Moffett, lead portfolio manager of the Scout International Fund, was a featured guest on CNBC’s “Closing Bell” regarding his international investing outlook.

[Buying yield overseas] is one of the things we look at. That’s for those that are a little nervous about this kind of a market but want a place to put some money in, and yield stocks are a good way to start. There’s some in Britain in particular, but a lot of the average foreign stock yields more than the U.S. stock does so we think that’s a good way to play it.

CNBC-TV – November 18, 2011
Jim Moffett, lead portfolio manager of the Scout International Fund, was a featured guest on CNBC’s “Closing Bell,” addressing international investing concerns and his strategy, given current economic conditions.

The thing that we’re looking at is what I call good companies in bad countries. As an example, Luxottica in Italy makes eyeglass frames, Inditex in Spain is a major apparel retailer, even Hellenic Bottling based in Athens—that’s Coca-Cola bottling operations across eastern Europe—there’s some good companies doing good things that are getting thrown out with the bath water, so to speak.

Reuters – November 16, 2011
Pat Dunkerley, lead portfolio manager of the Scout Mid Cap Fund, was featured in a recent article disusing his top sectors.

"When the stock market turns up, highly cyclical companies like technology, industrials and energy start to perform better and they tend to leave stocks like food and beverage companies behind," Dunkerley told Reuters, speaking from Scout Investment's office in Kansas City.

Associated Press – October 30, 2011
Pat Dunkerley, lead portfolio manager of the Scout Mid Cap Fund, was featured in an Associated Press article discussing his top mid cap picks and the current global market environment.

“Investors in the U.S. are being held hostage by the headlines in Europe. When the headlines are good, markets rise. When the headlines aren’t, markets fall. But the fundamentals of the company matter more in the long run.”

Fox Business News – October 21, 2011
Pat Dunkerley, lead portfolio manager of the Scout Mid Cap Fund, was a featured guest on FOX Business News’ “Countdown to Closing Bell” and provided perspective on market activity and mid-cap investment considerations.

“So, I think that’s what the market’s sniffing out this week and today that things are moving forward. So, that doesn’t mean we couldn’t have some more down days but we’re getting more positive on stocks and adding cyclicality and beta to our portfolio. We are getting more prepared for an up market.”

Kansas City Star– October 3, 2011
The launch of the Scout Unconstrained Bond Fund was featured in a recent article.

“The unconstrained strategy allows us to pursue what we feel are the best investment opportunities in the marketplace over the long term without the constraints of a benchmark,” lead manager Mark Egan said in an announcement of the fund’s opening.

'I don't think anything will happen very fast. These guys are on holiday. But they will be coming back just as our Congressmen and politicians will be returning to Washington, and, you know, maybe they'll get organized a little more than they have been. But you're right, this has been dragging on. It's a frustrating process for investors around the world to say the least.'

Bloomberg-TV - August 12, 2011
Jim Moffett, lead portfolio manager of the Scout International Fund, was a featured guest on 'Inside Track,'and provided insight on his international investment strategy in the current economic environment.

'Well, we think that when it comes back that there's a lot of room for cyclical recovery, so while short-run, we're raising our weights in the more stable areas like beverages and paper and stuff like that, long-run, we still think that the activity is going to be in the industrials and the consumer cyclicals as eventually the consumer will get his financial health back.'

The Wall Street Journal - August 8, 2011
Jim Moffett, lead portfolio manager of the Scout International Fund, was quoted in a recent article discussing long-term stock investments. Profiled among active mutual-fund managers, Moffett was asked to discuss a holding he has owned for at least 10 years.

"We've had other food stocks along the way, but Nestle's is kind of our core," Moffett said. "That's because it's got a balanced product line - foods, dairy and obviously chocolate. It does a good job of providing stable long-term returns."

CNBC-TV - August 4, 2011
Gary Anderson, co-portfolio manager of the Scout International Fund, was a featured guest on 'Closing Bell,'and provided perspective on international investing.

'Well, I think one of the things to look for is if there is continuing deceleration on the downside, a rapid selloff and a firming in the markets. And then a key thing that's been alluded to is that the European debt situation needs to have a believable solution.'

Hedgeweek - July 4, 2011
Andy Iseman, chief executive officer of Scout Investments, was quoted in an article announcing the launch of the Scout Global Equity Fund.

Fox Business Network - July 1, 2011
Jim Moffett, lead portfolio manager of the Scout International Fund, was a featured guest on 'Countdown to Closing Bell' discussing international investing.

'Well, I think we need to look at the whole week and in contrast to the previous six or seven weeks where the market had been going down, the bears were kind of getting their fill,'said Moffett. 'It's run its course&-;short run. I mean it's in the context so we've expected a sloppy market for this summer. We had a down-lag, now it's probably time for an up-lag as we look out into July when earnings announcements come out. We've seen very few warnings of earnings, which is usually a good sign, some of the things that we've been worrying about are better.'

KC Business - July 1, 2011
Jim Moffett, lead portfolio manager of the Scout International Fund, was quoted in a recent article discussing his approach to managing the international fund.

Greece is back, but it was here last year and they kicked the can down the road, and now they have to figure out how to kick it down the road again &...; but they will.'

Bloomberg-TV - June 10, 2011
Jim Moffett, lead portfolio manager of the Scout International Fund, was a featured guest on 'Inside Track' at the Morningstar Investment Conference, addressing concerns about the state of the economy in China.

'We recognize that China's one of the drivers in the worldwide economy and the last few years we've looked at it as kind of a bi-polar world where we buy it and they make it. And then as we went in a recession, they've been putting the growth into the worldwide economy. We think that&-;not a policy issue, but we think that that's in a process of kind of rolling over and slowing down.'

The Hills Magazine - June 1, 2011

Germany has had low unemployment numbers, high business confidence, it has not experienced the boom and bust in the property cycle that other countries have had in Europe, so we're finding strength in that area.'

Foreign investments present additional risks due to currency fluctuations, economic and political factors, government regulations, differences in accounting standards and other factors. Investments in emerging markets involve even greater risks.

Due to its limited focus, investments in the Scout Small Cap Fund are more susceptible to market volatility because smaller companies may not have the management experience, financial resources, product diversification and competitive strengths of larger companies. Additionally, smaller company stocks tend to be sold less often, and in smaller amounts, than larger company stocks.
